This was wonderfully terrifying, and you've retained just enough of Kirk to make it all the scarier. The ending in particular is just spectacular - bleak and hopeful all at the same time. Nicely done!

Author's Response: Thank you-one of my prouder(darker) moments, writing this. Glad you liked it.

I came across this fic on fanfiction.net a while back, and it remains one of my favourites in the fandom. I love the touches of humour (the tent joke inevitably makes me snicker), and the characterization is just flawless - while a lot of the story is, of course, about Spock, it's Kirk's personality that shines through the brightest, and McCoy is wonderfully done as well. Thank you so much for writing this!

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I'm glad they all came through, especially Kirk. His characterization has given me trouble in the past. You're very welcome -- hopefully there'll be more in the future!
