Ah Rah and speculation thereof. Why yes, I like him too. But Jock steals the show in this chapter, a punk Scotsman in a kilt. My Cadet could often be found in the same when he was in a flirty mood; kilt, Doc Martins and a tight t-shirt. And sometimes glitter in his hair. And his answer as to what would be in his sporran might even make Jex blush.

But I digress. Sebastian there continues to be an angst puppy. Or a villain. Not sure which yet, to be honest. And I love Becca, she continues to be awesome.

Ah, Jex and Noah, and Templar. They are a trio of interesting characters and they continue to learn more about one another. The banter between the three is, as usual, very entertaining but I’ve been wondering where Sebastian got off to. He seemed to disappear since the end of the attack and I wonder what he’s been up to. Obsessing over his past? Trying to hook up with Becca (there’s some fire there, some intensity … )? Or has he just been stewing over things since then?

Whatever the case it was a welcome sight seeing back here and continuing to be as unlovable as ever (yet strangely likeable still). Jex and Noah’s convos about him and Rah/Fang (I like Fang better, it’s a cooler nickname!) were laced with the proper amount of history and mystery. It’s a sensitive subject for Jex and I’m glad Noah didn’t pursue it too hard, sensing that she wants to just let it go.

The bar scene was well done, with the crew mingling and exchanging good natured banter. I love Gordon, ever ready to pour a drink and offer a friendly ear, and Jex being the life of the party is just what a Trill is most of the time.

To good hunting indeed.

What an interesting glimpse into the off hours of some of the crew! I like the easy banter and familiarity. Even if they don't all like each other, they seem able to pull together and enjoy themselves. Hopefully, Templar will be able to find his place, too. He can't hide behind his issues forever. This was a nice interlude between some of the darker episodes.

Author's Response:

Thanks for commenting on the crew interaction. Yeah, I figures if they work hard they are bound to play hard. Templar is defintiely hiding behind his issues and as much as he Noah is the green novice, Templar has a lot to learn too. Whether he allows himself to find his place is another matter altogether. Read on to discover.... ha!

Ouch. It was going so well with lightening the mood slightly, and then bam -- Sebastian! Ow, poor baby. I've gotta say, you're doing a superb job of maintaining the mood throughout this. I'm not even sure how you do it. But that feeling of nervousness that comes with the fisrt mission/flight/launch whatever, it just doesn't go away. This painstaking process of settling into any collective that had been fine and blossoming without you and the different approaches different people have for that.

Obviously, Jex is the most comfortable with conditioning, but I'm pleased that she, too, has something to be worried about. Gives her a more humane touch, and I think she needed it. Noah -- well, this guy's wound up so tightly, he's gonna break if he doesn't find a way to relax soon. Maybe exhale every once in a while. LOL. Sebastian, now that's a story still in store, can't say where he's headed yet. Intriguing.

And did I mention I think every ship should have a bar? :D

Author's Response:

Great feedback Anna. Love the bit about Jex, Sebastain and Noah and where they are at. Again much thanks for reviewing. The mood is something that happens I think more by accident and cnojured more by how the characters react and what they emote. Everything for all concerned, no matter how experienced, has to be up in the air and in flux. Especially trying to make friends and get settled in. I can't imagine it is too over night and settled.

And yeah - every ship should have a bar!

You have possibly one of the craziest crews I've ever seen. Between the big cat, the crazy Scot and then our man McGregor, this ship can't get dull or boring if it wanted to. Nevermind the rest of the mad cast. Love it.

Author's Response:

Coolness. Thanks Steff. Hope they continue to entertain. You've just our science officer to meet now! ;) I think you know how that ends.
