I seriously need to get caught up on these stories. I rather enjoyed this one and have gotten started on "Reunion". I'm getting the sense the Vizorian Confederacy are some kind of dystopian story-- in the sense that they are a utopian society on the outside with a dark secret considering that Megan's father died when he did. The beginning was rather clever having one character arc setting another character arc in motion-- Coplin knowing Megan's secret.

The Kira-subplot seems a little redundant for those who have already read "The Final Hours" assuming that's not an alternate timeline. It still works with written prose more than televised screenplay without expecting actors to play the process rather than the result. And it still makes for good storytelling, throwing in how it affects her family since there's no way to really know for a while if Kira will be cured or not.

Author's Response: It's a secret Megan never realised, her true origins (while greatly fleshed out in this story and "Reunion") are only fully explained much later in the series, and expanded upon in my 4th, 6th and 7th seasons. Megan's human 'father' though is NOT her biological father, and that's about all I can say otherwise I'll ruin "Reunion" for you.

Regarding the Kira subplot, it's part of a more grander story arc. Whereas "The Final Hours" is not so much an alternative universe but actually Odo's experience with the Orb of Time.
