Growing Up Trekiverse ChallengeA Prequel Episode of Star Trek: Full Speed Ahead
Stardate 38896.89: The Excelsior-class starship USS Potemkin is en route to the Turkana star system; diverted by the distress call of a civilian freighter. Upon arrival, they find that the freighter has already been picked apart and its crew killed. Flittering around their apparent kill are a group of aged former Federation-designed fighters, relics left over from a war fought over a hundred and fifty years ago. Executive Officer Krystine Leone and her close friend Ariel Elannis must assist their commanding officer, T'Cirya, in determining who attacked the freighter and why?
The Federation has done nothing to help his people. So why would Cardassian ensign Hirhul Mendral join the very Starfleet that watched as his people fell to Bajoran occupation?

Stardate 43242: (continued from the previous episode) With the destruction of the freighter Shoeless Joe, Captian Leone orders the halt of the convoy begun in "Milk Run" to investigate the cause of the event without placing the other freighters at risk. No signs of attack or other subterfuge leave the crew with a mystery to solve at the same time enduring the constant interrogations of Commander Hargreaves, who is hell-bent on proving the guilt of Captain Leone in order to bring her up on charges of gross violations of regulations.

(Written from an in-universe perspective.)
"Thanks For Listening" ChallengeA TrekBBS challenge. The theme was 'Lower Decks'. To quote the challenger:
This month's challenge is all about the small fries, the supportive cast, the guys and girls who don't usually get to be in the limelight.
The Lower Decks
Your entry must focus on one or more protagonists who hail from the lower decks and are not part of the regular cast of characters.
Max. length is 3000 words
I chose as my setting, the Voyager pilot 'Caretaker' and took the opportunity to write about a few of the faces we saw in this episode alone, with a few names thrown in from later in the series.

Tayben Berat is a rarity in any galactic power's military--let alone the Cardassian Guard. Continuing his service in the face of his neurological impairment is tough enough as it is without an insufferable Vorta coming aboard his ship in 2374 determined to twist the knife as deep as possible.
But Dasreen is about to pay dearly for taking one look at Gul Berat and counting him out of the fight...
