After the liberation of Betazed from the Dominion occupation, outbreaks of cholera and bubonic plague are still running rampant. And when Aurellan Markalis finds that the standard treatments have the opposite effect, she is sent back to the drawing board to develop a new counter-agent to the legacy left behind by the Dominion invasion.
With the destruction of Vulcan, Vulcans are sought in all sorts of remote places.

The cost was starbase Deep Space 9, now once again under its Cardassian designation Terok Nor. Heavy losses have also been inflicted on the Dominion with the destruction of the Toros III shipyards.
A crew of former Maquis and Starfleet veterans is assembled to investigate a possible lead that could set the enemy back even further. But all is not as it seems.
