Summary: Season 2, 28th story

Ezri becomes reacquainted with Worf when he arrives, in an ambassadorial function, to a Federation/Klingon conference on Deep Space Nine. Worf also encounters an unusually knowledgeable Klingon clerk called Sortek.

At a special dinner though, a prominent Klingon ambassador is fatally poisoned by one of the special dishes he consumed. The immediate suspect is Jake, and things look even worse when evidence is found to suggest he was responsible.

Meanwhile Worf becomes more intrigued by Sortek and then makes a shocking discovery; Sortek is the return of Kahless, as alluded to by the scarred texts...

Summary:

Season 2, 25th story

Max makes a shocking discovery that one of his ancestor's pioneering mathematical, and hitherto unknown, research into subspace and warp flight may have been unwittingly used by Zefram Cochrane. Faced with the paradox of whether his ancestor, John Weatherby, is the missing link to how mankind developed its first warp drive, Max asks of Ezri for them to investigate what happened all those hundreds of years ago back on Earth.

Seeking a way to send the Defiant many hundreds of years in the past, Ezri invites Seven of Nine to the station to implement untested work into time travel. The year Ezri wants to go to is 2053; the year where World War III ended due to nuclear Armageddon.

When the Defiant does go successfully back in time, Ezri and Max begin their investigations into John and his involvement with warp research. After some digging around, it falls upon Ezri to carry out one truly terrible decision; either way many lives will be lost and altered because of it.

Fast forward two years and captain Ezri Dax is the new commander of Deep Space Nine, and on a personal level there are many challenges to overcome, as she comes to terms with her long term break-up with Bashir, and the friends she lost contact with during the many years away from the station. However shortly after arriving, Ezri faces a new problem when a fleet of Cardassian warships arrive at DS9.

Upon being contacted by one of the ships, Ezri encounters Garak, the president of the Cardassian government and general commander-in-chief of the Cardassian Union. During a private meeting, Garak gives to Ezri a very unusual offer...

This soon morphs into Ezri's first mission as captain to carry out a daring rescue operation to free the prisoners on Tau Primia...

This universe is NOT based on the DS9 relaunch books, this is my own interpretation of events after the end of the Dominion war. This is DS9 but radically tweaked...

When Max returns back to DS9, he tells Megan this. Megan is deeply intrigued and asks Bashir to run a DNA test on her. After painstaking analysis, Bashir discovers a shocking truth; Megan is not human. Not only that, but the clue to Megan's origins lies beyond a subspace rift close to the Bajoran star system...

Summary: Season 2, 16th story

While the head of the Tal Shiar, Eret Toshen, plans a coup to take over the Romulan government. The Breen and Federation are entering negotiations over trade rights. Ezri, Kira and Odo join the Federation delegation.

However disaster strikes, the Breen assault the Federation delegation, leaving half of the delegation's members dead, and most of the rest captured. While Ezri escapes back to the Defiant, Kira and Odo try to evade capture from the Breen.

But for Kira and Odo they must survive not only the Breen attempts to capture them, but also the harsh climate, inhospitable to nearly every humanoid.

Summary: Season 2, 15th story.

Odo returns to the station (after staying in the Great Link for six months), but he is not readily welcomed back by his family. He hast to do much soul-searching, apologising and grovelling to get back in his family's good books.

Ezri's hallucinations worsen, as the equilibrium between herself and Dax breaks down. While Bashir tries to find a cure to her mental problems, Ezri struggles to regain her equilibrium but to no success.
