Hello everyone. With the discussion forum down and not all of us having our Ad Astra blogs up and going I thought I would try to create a little round robin story where we can all post a little response to my posited ‘How do we cope when technology fails?' prompt.

Our heroes would have to tackle Star Trek life without the magic of their technology - say no transporters, no replicators, no grav-plates, no warp power, etc. Maybe they find themselves in a crutch, maybe it ends up with some hilarious or fish out of water moments, or puts their lives in mortal peril. Have at it. Remember to keep it clean given the K rating and that this is just for fun to help us while over the absence of the forum.

Just post your prompt response as a new chapter and sign your name to the ‘chapter' you write. Well that's the plan. Fingers crossed as to whether this works! Remember, just write it, don't edit it to death - for this one time on the archive! ;)

Vulcan has been a member of the Federation for a very long time, but it seems that there have not been many points where anyone has questioned their ways. This is an argument between a pro-Vulcan and a per say "anti" Vulcan.

This is not a story in the traditional sense. It's written like posts in a forum.

Publicly-available grammatical work has ENDED.  While I will continue to leave the existing material available, the fact that the language is now being adopted by others outside the Sigils and Unions universe has led me to keep all actual grammatical information to myself so that I am the only one who can generate authentic words and phrases.

From strict discipline in military formations to intense, deeply emotional interactions with friends and family--interactions with and among Cardassians can sometimes seem contradictory to other species with different upbringings and instinctive drives. Here's a bit of insight for non-Cardassians that might explain some of the unusual thoughts and reactions they might observe when dealing with Cardassians...

In the real world, it has the force of scientific law: only the most similar species within a genus can successfully mate, and even then the offspring will almost always be sterile.

Yet in Star Trek, hybrids have been with us from the very beginning.

So how is it that beings that evolved on completely different worlds, some of them with physiology fundamentally different from Earth humanity, manage to have healthy children together? And how is it their children seem to expect the same?
